Kids Need to Move...Even When They Don't

We are all bundles of energy.  In fact, we are never not moving. We are never totally still.  There is always some shifting, some swaying, some pulsing, some sighing, some movement somewhere in our bodies.  And as kids we move A Lot.  Our bodies our younger, more juiced up, more kinetic.  And we use movement to learn, to express, to concentrate, and to discharge stress.  So how do we keep moving during times when we feel we can’t?  How do kids keep moving when squeezed into desks to learn?  Fidgeting is one good option.

A school counselor has invented a terrific device to allow kids to keep moving their legs and feet while the work.

“Bouncy Bands attach to student desks so kids can stretch their legs and bounce their feet while they work quietly at their desk,” the inventor, Scott Ertl said. I love this idea!  (And wish I had thought of it.)  So keep moving, my friends.  And when you rest, and are still, surrender to the small movements that continue to sway and touch you.
